The Real
Customer Experience

From defining site architecture and information structure to developing detailed personas, mapping user journeys, and designing seamless workflows, it is important to ensure that you know all the users scenarios in the journeys their stories tell. Every solution is thoughtfully crafted with the user and their story in mind. Working closely with stakeholders, using methodologies like design thinking, and conducting competitive analysis allow UX Design to identify improvement opportunities and gaps in user workflows and then translate this research into detailed wireframes, information architecture, and interaction models that guide development. This approach eliminates guesswork, reduces rework, and creates human-focused pathways for each user.

The Goal

The ultimate goal of UX is to create seamless experiences that make a tangible difference in users’ daily lives while delivering positive business outcomes—such as increased engagement, reduced drop-off rates, streamlined workflows, and the resolution of unmet user needs. At its core, UX serves the end user, and a strong user experience is the business’s ultimate goal. Across my projects, I’ve helped teams achieve meaningful improvements in key metrics, including task completion time, user satisfaction, adoption rates, and broader business KPIs. I work closely with stakeholders to align UX efforts with strategic objectives and clearly demonstrate the value of thoughtful design.

Industries

Finance

UX for financial institutions is complex and challenging. I’ve designed intuitive digital experiences involving data pools, 401(k) accounts, and financial dashboards for leading institutions including Voya Financial Services, Broadridge, and Barclays.  At Voya, I enabled users to seamlessly access their Morningstar account information. At Broadridge, I created a dashboard that allows stock brokers to easily monitor KPIs and failed trades. For Barclays, I designed a user-focused pipeline for internal loan allocation.  These solutions turn complex financial data into clear, actionable insights through secure, user-friendly interfaces that empower both retail investors and financial professionals—resulting in higher engagement, fewer errors, and more efficient workflows.

Technology

Technology is rapidly stretching our imaginations, yet end users are often the last ones considered when designing these complex, multi-level systems. I’ve designed digital experiences for users at IBM, Microsoft, NBC Universal, the Olympics, the State of Connecticut, AT&T, and many others.  At IBM, I created HR portals for both employee and manager personas, featuring notification centers that drive engagement between employees and their managers. At Delta, I developed persona-driven workflows for a self-service airport kiosk that helps passengers manage irregular operations (IROPs)—enabling them to skip the check-in desk, add luggage, update meal choices, and receive real-time departure notifications.  Across these organizations, my work focuses on transforming sophisticated systems and large data sets into clear, user-friendly interfaces that serve everyday users and internal teams alike—resulting in improved adoption, reduced friction, and more efficient workflows.

Healthcare

In healthcare, exceptional UX directly improves patient outcomes, experience, and clinical efficiency. I’ve partnered with major organizations, including Highmark Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield and UnitedHealthcare, to design intuitive, accessible, and empathetic digital experiences — from patient portals and telehealth platforms to clinical dashboards. By combining deep user research, journey mapping, and rigorous usability testing, I create user specific interfaces that simplify complex medical information, reduce cognitive load for both patients and providers, and meet strict HIPAA and accessibility standards. The result is higher patient engagement, smoother workflows, and technology that feels supportive rather than overwhelming.

Transportation

Transportation is constantly evolving, yet end users still need complex systems distilled into simple, intuitive interactions. I’ve designed digital experiences for Delta and for other airlines. At Delta, I developed persona-driven workflows for a self-service kiosk that helps passengers manage irregular operations (IROPs) — enabling them to skip the check-in desk, add luggage, update meal choices, and receive real-time departure notifications. Across these companies, this work focused on transforming sophisticated systems and large data sets into clear, user-friendly interfaces that serve everyday users and internal teams alike, resulting in improved adoption, reduced friction, and more efficient workflows.

e-commerce

E-commerce demands seamless, intuitive experiences that drive conversion and customer satisfaction. I’ve designed digital commerce solutions for Costco, Disney, and Menswear fashion designer, Alexander Julian. For Costco, I created a water delivery service that connects members with a third-party provider, enabling easy subscription and auto-delivery of their preferred bottled water. For Disney, I developed a sweepstakes experience for their Cruise Line. For menswear designer Alexander Julian, I built a full online commerce platform featuring his collections of menswear, perfume, eyeglasses, and pajamas. These user tailored experiences transformed complex business requirements into clear, user-friendly shopping experiences that improved user engagement, while supporting business goals.

Strategy

HCD User-Centric Strategy lies at the core of my UX approach. I partner with organizations to deeply understand their users through research, persona development, and journey mapping, then translate those insights into clear, intuitive solutions. By placing real user needs at the center of every decision, I bridge the gap between complex business and technical requirements and simple, effective experiences. This strategy has consistently delivered higher user adoption, improved engagement, and more efficient workflows across healthcare, finance, technology, and e-commerce projects.

Solutions

I help companies create intuitive, user-centered digital experiences that solve real problems and drive measurable results. From user research and persona development to full product design and usability testing, I deliver end-to-end UX solutions tailored to your goals—whether you need a new product, a platform redesign, or strategic UX guidance. Here are a few examples of how I’ve helped clients and their users:

  • Delta’s Kiosk: Added missing IROP capabilities, increasing users’ ability to self-serve.

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield: Expanded the functionality of the Customer Advocate Dashboard to better meet business and user requirements.

  • NBC Olympics: Designed a live video streaming module that gave users access to every sporting event—both live and archived—directly from the main portal.

It’s all about relationships

A few words from colleagues.

"Jane picked up on a complex project that had been through several Information Architects (IA's) very quickly
and had good ideas as to how to make new changes to the structure work. I had fun working with her."

Doreen Moran - Sudler & Hennessey

"Jane is a bastion of empathy. She has a strong mix of 10,000 foot thinking and an on-the-ground
approach to build up her team, a natural leader who focuses on Design Thinking to create an ecosystem of learning and empowered outcomes. She built out a model of cross-disapline learning and shared workloads. She allowed employees with different skill levels to grow their technical knowledge while sharing soft skills and respect for the work on our roadmap. Additionally she brought access to IBM's Design Thinking and accessibility courses to the user experience team."

Eric Bjarnason -
Franklin Templeton

"Jane brought new creativity in information technology to Juran Institute, Inc. and continuously made significant
contributions to both our internal operations and service to our customers. She was an outstanding team player and colleague. "
